International Conference on Energy Conservation & Efficiency (ICECE) 2019

In the wake of providing awareness on Energy Conservation & Efficiency, addressing the current energy crisis in Pakistan and to provide a platform to the Researchers and Industrialists, Centre for Energy Research and Development (CERAD) UET Lahore in collaboration with Punjab Energy Efficiency & Conservation Agency (PEECA) organized a two day 3rd International Conference on Energy Conservation and Efficiency (ICECE)2019 at UET Lahore. Theme of the conference was to invite Engineers, Researchers, Energy experts, Manufacturers and Building designers to interact, explore and exchange ideas in the fastest growing field of Energy Efficiency and Conservation strategies that would help in creating awareness regarding energy conservation.OPening Ceremony:The opening ceremony was held at UET Main Auditorium in which Director CERAD, Prof. Dr. Waqar Mahmood gave a plenary talk at start of the event followed by an address of the Chief Guest Chairman PHEC, Prof. Dr. Fazal Ahmad Khalid who graced the occasion along with other distinguished guests including Vice Chancellor UET, Prof. Dr. Syed Mansoor Sarwar, Program Manager PEECA, Mr. Abdur Rehman, Professor Dr. Bhooming Zhang from Tsinghua University, China and Prof. Dr. Li Song from Ever Fine Corporation China.Dr. Fazal highlighted the need of working relationship between Academia & Industry and also proclaimed the conference to be a great opportunity for both the students and faculty from learning perspective. 

Industrial Exposition:One of the important components of ICECE was exhibition for the participants. Many industries showed interest in the exhibition and presented their stalls to showcase a wide range of technologies aimed to transform and bringing innovation in energy sector. This exhibition shed light on the best and most advanced products and technical solutions to the energy sector. 

Technical Sessions:Thematic sessions about energy usage pattern, role of power electronics and building design feasibilities & environmental impact were commenced by international speakers on both days of conference. The discussions of experts were mainly focused on the countless applications of energy conservation which have proved prolific for the economy and industry of several countries. 28 National and International speakers of high caliber delivered the talks. Paper presentations were also the part of the technical session, where multiple papers on the topic of energy and conservations were presented by the experts. 22 high quality papers were presented. The presenters were from GM Power Systems, NEECA, PEECA, NUST, Air Audit, Air University, USPCASE NUST, Ever Fine Corporation China, Effat University Saudi Arabia, CERAD UET, USPCASE Peshawar, BZU Multan, UOL Lahore, Erciyes University Turkey, Gwangju University Korea, Tsinghua University China, UET Lahore, UET Taxila, Comsats Lahore, FJWU Rawalpindi, UET Peshawar, LUMS, SDPI, University of Agriculture Faisalabad, FAST Lahore and PIET Multan.  

Round Table Discussion:Panel discussion was held to address the Energy and Environmental issues. The discussion included National and International Researchers and was Industrial Visit:International delegation also made a visit to Centre for Energy Research and Development (CERAD). Team CERAD explained the research activities to the delegation and they appreciated the initiatives on Research & Development and various types of Renewable Energies to evolve efficient, innovative and cost-effective solutions. The delegation got impressed by seeing various research projects being done on energy and the delegation members appreciated their works. They also liked the mobile battery analyzer recently developed by CERAD team, which has grabbed the attention of the industry and the people.  

Closing Ceremony:The two days conference concluded with the pledge for continuous research and investment in the field of energy conservation that can prove to be consequential not only to meet the current demand of energy but also for economic revolution in the country. Certificates were distributed among the management by Vice Chancellor, Director CERAD and other distinguished guests.  The ceremony gave a big place to the researchers, scientists and research students to socialize and make contacts with each other. Foreign delegation and all the participants found it interesting and truly beneficial for their researches and projects. 

The International conference on energy efficiency and conservation is a welcome move for the interaction of students with faculty. It will not only deliver a positive message worldwide but also provide the opportunities of Research collaborations to the faculty.
