INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON ENERGY CONSERVATION & EFFICIENCY (ICECE) 2018

In the wake of providing awareness on energy conservation, addressing the current energy crisis in Pakistan and need to provide a platform to the Researchers and Industrial Experts, Centre for Energy Research and Development (CERAD) UET Lahore and FSK Energy Conservation and Efficiency Organization (FEECO)  organized 2nd International Conference on Energy Conservation and Efficiency on at UET Lahore in collaboration with Punjab Government PEECA and IEEE IAS (Industrial Applications Society, Lahore Section). The theme was to invite Engineers, Researchers, Energy experts, Manufacturers and Building designers to interact, explore and exchange ideas in the fastest growing field of Energy Efficiency and Conservation strategies that would help in creating awareness regarding the conservation of energy. 

OPENING CEREMONY:The Opening Ceremony was held at UET Main Auditorium in which Director CERAD Dr. Waqar Mahmood gave a plenary talk at start of the evet followed by an address of Vice Chancellor UET Prof Dr. Fazal Ahmad Khalid who stressed the need of working relationship between academic and industrial sector and also proclaimed this conference to be a great opportunity for both  the students and faculty from learning perspective. 

INDUSTRIAL EXPOSITION:One of the important components of ICECE was exhibition for the participants. Many industries showed interest in this Exhibition and presented their stalls to showcase a wide range of technologies aimed at helping transform and bring innovation in the energy sector. This Exhibition shed light on the best and most advanced products and technical solutions to the energy sector. 

TECHNICAL SESSIONS:Thematic sessions about Energy Usage Pattern, Role of Power Electronics, and Building Design Feasibilities & Environmental Impact were commenced by International Speakers on both days of Conference.The discussions of experts was mainly focused on the countless applications of Energy conservation which have proved prolific for the economy and industry of several countries. 

ROUND TABLE:Round table discussion was scheduled at the VC Conference room for a comprehensive review on the energy development, legislation and research development to formulate the recommendations for improvements. The discussion was centering on politics & policy, climate change, Energy and Development and was moderated by Mr. Imran Ali Shah. 

PANEL DISCUSSION:Panel discussion was held to address the Energy and Environmental issues. The discussion included the international delegation and national researchers and was moderated by Mr. Muhammad Ali & Farhan Raiz.  Panel ventured into how building design promotes energy efficiency, reduces environmental impacts, and improves occupant comfort and well-being. The panelists represented their discipline’s contribution to the complex designs and systems for achieving a high-performing and sustainable built environment. 

INDUSTRIAL VISIT:International delegation also made a visit to AFCO STEEL INDUSTRIES and the Centre for Energy Research and Development (CERAD) and appreciated the initiatives on R & D and various types of Renewable Energies to evolve efficient, innovative and cost-effective solutions. 

CLOSING CEREMONY:The two days Conference concluded on 18th Oct. The conference concluded with the pledge for continuous research and investment in the field of Energy Conservation that can prove to be consequential, not only to meet the current demand of Energy but also for economic revolution in the Country. Certificates were distributed among the management by vice-chancellor, President FSK and Director CERAD.  

 

Timely ideas make leaders, be it humans or nations. ICECE is meant to bring Pakistani stakeholders abreast with international state-of-the art. ICECE is being planned to be the stepping stone for next levels of energy conservation and efficiency in Pakistan.
